Everything has a beginning, and for many people, their beginning in sexual e-stim is through the use of pads. E-stim pads offer two substantial benefits: they're the least expensive electrode around, and because they are merely applied to the skin, they offer simplicity to any beginner's e-stim configuration.
How's the orgasm?
To be quite understated, the orgasm is better than anything you've ever experienced in ordinary sex. To read more about the orgasm, start with our FAQ's.
Placements: direct and indirect
We utilize both direct and indirect placements. We define a direct placement as one which performs genital stimulation via the shortest possible current path. A current path is the field of electrical stimulation taking place between two pads. For instance, if a man were to place a small pad on the penis head and another pad at the base of the penis (where it attaches to his body), the current path will be an end-to-end stimulation of the penis.
An indirect placement utilizes the concept of an "off" location, which is any point on your body that, when stimulated, can enhance the e-stim feelings in the genitalia. Two of the most common "off" locations are the sacral nerve and the acupuncture point SP6. The sacral nerve exits both sides of the spine, just above the butt crack. SP6 is an especially significant female stimulation point and it is located just above the inside ankle of either leg.
For the sacral nerve, always place the pad beside the spine, never on the spine.
When you use an "off" location, always use a large e-stim pad. This will assure that the intensity will be felt in the genitals, not on the "off" location.
On men, the perineum is the patch of skin between the backside of the scrotum and the anus. On women, the perineum starts at the bottom of the vulva and ends at the anus. This is an excellent location for both male and female experimentation.
For good examples of male perineum stimulation, read Advanced Prostate Power E-Stim Methods.
Pads cannot do their job on top of pubic hair. Please see FAQ's Page Two for further explanation on this. The inconvenience of shaving, combined with the desire for higher-intensity stimulation, is the reason that many women quickly transition to a vaginal or clitoral electrode.
Our placements never exceed a total of four pads because that is the limit for most power boxes. Does your power box have a frequency (pulse rate) setting? When we recommend high frequency, set the frequency as close to 150 as your control permits. When we recommend low frequency, use a setting as close as possible to 5.
The power of X and the simple segment
For direct vulvar and anal stimulation, we recommend using an "X" configuration. Draw an X on a piece of paper. Starting with the left-top point, label the points A,B,C, and D in clockwise order. With one lead wire, connect the A and C points. With the other lead wire, connect the B and D points. The center of the X should always be the stimulation target in question (vagina, clitoris, anus).
On a far simpler note, when we call for a segment, that's just two pads. The center of the segment should be the stimulation target.
Place the pads as close to the target as possible.
Direct: Use the X configuration on the mons pubis (the mound above the clitoris) and the labia majora (outer lips).
Indirect: One lead wire should be a horizontal segment on the labia majora. The other lead wire should be a pad on either the sacral nerve or SP6, combined with a small e-stim pad on the clitoris.
Frequency: The clitoris is quite sympathetic to high frequency.
Upgrade: For more intense stimulation, consider our Clitoral Stimulation options.
Direct: Use the X configuration on the labia majora (outer lips).
Indirect: One lead wire should be a pad on either the sacral nerve or SP6, combined with a medium e-stim pad on one of the labia majora. Using the opposite sides of where you just hooked up, duplicate the locations of your first lead wire.
Frequency: You should experiment with both frequencies to see what works best for you.
Upgrade: For more intense stimulation options, consider a vaginal electrode.
Direct: Use the segment configuration with a small e-stim pad on the glans (the head) and a medium e-stim pad on the underside base of the penis. We use the underside to avoid overstimulation of the dorsal nerve. We recommend no-hurt tape for any pad on the penis.
Indirect: One lead wire should be a pad on the sacral nerve, combined with a small e-stim pad on the glans. Optionally, with a second lead wire, use another sacral nerve connection combined with a small e-stim pad on the base.
Frequency: The penis adores high frequency.
Upgrade: For more intense stimulation options, consider CurrentLoops.
Important note: For many men the scrotum is a difficult location on which to keep a pad. You will probably need to shave. We also recommend using no-hurt tape.
Direct: Use the segment configuration with a small e-stim pad on each testicle.
Indirect: One lead wire should be a pad on the sacral nerve, combined with a small e-stim pad on the testicle. Repeat for the opposite side with a second lead wire.
Frequency: You need to experiment.
Upgrade: For easy scrotum stim, consider CurrentLoops.
Indirect: One lead wire should be a pad on the sacral nerve, combined with a medium e-stim pad on the perineum. Optionally, with a second lead wire, use another sacral nerve connection combined with a small e-stim pad on the glans. In order to milk the prostate, dual stimulation is a must for some men. You may also want to consider some Conductive Adhesive Gel for that perineum pad.
Frequency: Milking the prostate is more thorough on low frequency, but your penis may disagree. If you have an extra power box, consider stimming the penis independently with high frequency.
Upgrade: If milking is your thing, you ought to give serious consideration to a prostate electrode.
Direct: Use the X configuration with medium e-stim pads.
Frequency: The vast majority of stimmers use low frequency, but feel free to experiment!
Upgrade: Consider an electrode for the anal sphincter.
